undrinkable teaI was looking forward to toasted green tea,thinking it would be an improvement over regular green tea. I was very disappointed when the box was opened. The tea has an unpleasant odor and after brewing I could not make myself drink it. The tea is not returnable so it goes into the compost pile.1The best green tea around!I go to an Asian market to buy this, but this price was more reasonable--I think because more people are becoming aware of the good stuff! It seems like "roasted" and "green tea" couldn't go together, especially since you're not even supposed to use boiling water for steeping it since the leaves are so delicate. However, their roasting process magically does just the job it needs to--the rich, earthy flavors become perfectly exaggerated, and the aroma beckons you in. It's one of the only teas where I will just hold the cup near me to inhale it for awhile. The cup itself feels like a reward. 'Sounds cheesy, but it's true.5My favorite tea that comes in a bagRoasted green tea has a more robust flavor than regular green tea; it reminds me of oolong. The only minor negative is that the bags seem to be flimsy and can tear, but I avoid problems by not pouring boiling water directly on the bag. I like the foil wrap, probably a big reason why the tea always tastes fresh. Five stars because it's my favorite bagged tea.5Check the box to make sure it's really Hoji-chaGot the wrong tea in the mail today, I didn't realize until I went to drink it and it was green and not brown. Was also a day late and non-refundable.1Hate to Admit How Good This Tea IsI considered myself a tea snob. I had been drinking exclusively loose leaf tea bought at high end tea shops. I have an electric water kettle and brew to proper temps depending on white, green or black. Friends often would gift me various teas and I had the opportunity to sample lots of varieties. The Hoji Cha was was a gift, and wasn't something I was very keen on trying - a bagged green tea. I care the least for green teas, too vegetal, preferring white or blacks. Nothing flavored other than a mint, chamomile or Jasmine. This particular tea is roasted and has a very smooth rich taste. Not like any green I had. The fullness was unexpected from a tea bag, as well.Now I am hooked. This tea is a go to. Usually one cup in the evening is a relaxing and contemplative. experience.I still drink my other favorites, but this one tea is a standard daily drink.I recommend it highly, especially to a tea lover who really doesn't care for green teas.5Best tea ever!My friend's Japanese husband introduced me to this years ago, and I am hooked! I get it cheaper at a nearby Asian market, but this price isn't terrible if you are on Prime and a lot easier. I need decaf tea so what I do is make a quart of decaf black tea and add one teabag of this. Wow, it enhances the flavor so well even with just that one small teabag to a big family-size one. I have a cupboard full of tea and it's hard to make myself use anything but my decaf tea with Hoji cha. I actually like it cold just as well if not more than hot because I am very hot natured, but it is great for a hot cuppa in the winter.5Great tasteI tried this roasted tea in Japan and fell in love with the taste. I wasn t sure when I ordered it if it would be the same but it turned out to be just as delicious.! It comes sealed in foil for freshness and the tea bag is paper which makes a big difference with some of the tea bags I found in Japan that were plastic! I was delighted with it's nutty, complex flavor. I'm not a huge fan of regular green tea, but the roasted kind is life-changing. I bought some roasted green tea at the Japanese version of 7-11, which lasted me only a few days. After returning home, I was happy to find this brand of roasted green tea, and I'm very happy with the flavour. It's comparable to the kind served in Japan. It's excellent unsweetened or sweetened with a bit of honey. And it arrived fast. And safely packaged.5Happy Tea DrinkerThis has fast become a favorite tea in our tea loving house. We usually drink loose teas but having individually wrapped teas is often convenient. This tea tastes so good. My 8 year old daughter, mom and I all drink this tea together at breakfast.Of course if they could make the packaging eco friendly it would be better but I imagine it would compromise the fresh taste.5
