Not Sure It Is the Same Either.......After reading quite a few reviews, a number of you said this isn't as good, and not the same blend. Since this is my long time favorite bagged Chai, & one of the best on the market, I decided to order it anyway. I needed more and it was at the best price I've seen in years, plus I wanted to see if some of these comments were valid.I emailed Tazo with my concerns yesterday, and expect an answer from them soon. Here is my experience in the letter I emailed them.'Hello,I have been a fan of Chai Tea-especially spicy Chai Tea-for many years. I've always chosen loose Chai tea, with lots of pepper. I have been drinking TAZO ORGANIC CHAI tea for about 10 to 12 years now and it is one of the best, most aromatic, spicy Chai teas I have tasted! Not only is it the BEST teabag Chai tea I have had the pleasure to drink, it tops, but one or two loose tea Chai teas on the market (AND THAT IS SAYING ALOT).Today I received a six pack (24 bag) lot from Amazon. I read some customer reviews on Amazon from long time customers saying the blend was changed or reformulated and/or, not as strong, or not as good as from the past. Many reviews from these customers stated that when the box changed, they didn't expect the tea to change. Most who said they were long time customers-who believed TAZO's Organic Chai was changed and not as good-said they would look for alternatives or make their own. I ordered some anyway.I had three cups of TAZO's Organic Chai this afternoon: Sunday, May 24, 2015. The teabag smelled like the same great Chai. After steeping the teabag for 5 minutes with boiling water, the tea smelled and tasted as good as I remembered it from the past. My second cup was from an older box and teabag (with the older designed darker box and wrapper). The dry teabag smelled roughly the same as the newer lot. After letting the steeped tea (same ounces, steeping time, and boiling water for all three cups) cool a bit, the aroma smelled more.......aromatic. The spices came through more-especially the ginger, pepper, & cardamon. After tasting the second cup it too was more round, full, and spicy-with a kick-than the first cup. The teabags are about two years within the use by, or freshness date sometime in 2017. I asked myself, 'Has the blend been changed, or been reformulated, even though the same spices are used, and listed in the same order on the boxes?' I also noticed that the gram weight per teabag had not changed: 65 G per 24 teabags, or 2.71 Grams per bag. I had a third cup just to be sure my initial thoughts of my first cup-the newer lot-was true and accurate.As a long time customer who loves TAZO's Organic Chai, I have to be honest and say that the newer lots, with the new design, do not appear to be quite as flavorful, aromatic, or have that same full, spicy kick that the older lots of your Organic Chai possess. Please let me know if TAZO's Organic Chai blend has changed! :DDon't get me wrong, I still love this Chai & will continue to drink it, but your honest response is appreciated--it means alot to me. :D I'd like to recommend perhaps a spicier Chai in the future. Thank you for your response and your time regarding this matter.Cheers.'As you can see, I do think the blend has changed. I think it still tastes very good, and is probably still my favorite bagged Chai tea, but when I do drink Chai (not too often in the Summer months, unless iced) I drink loose leaf Chai blends. Last night I did have a third cup of the newly packaged Organic Chai, steeped a little longer (5.5 minutes). It was more flavorful and not bitter, but still lacked a bit of the aroma, and spicy flavors-especially from the ginger, cardamon, & black pepper. For now here's my bottom line: The Organic Chai with the older packaging (pre 2012 or 2013?), had a spicier kick and a fuller flavor; 5+ stars. The current Chai is still very good, and I will prpbably still drink it; 4-4.5 stars.4The new flavor is a lot weakerI first tried the Tazo chai from a sampler pack I tried with all the different Tazo flavors. I was pleasantly surprised by the strong, spicy aroma of the tea. I therefore, decided to order the tea in bulk. Somehow, in the time between me trying the sampler pack and this new pack, the recipe was changed. The tea that I got is a lot weaker and a lot less spicier than the one I had tried before ordering it.It still gets 3 stars because it is among the better tasting teas out there.3Best Earl Grey I've Found (And I've Tried Many)I am an avid tea drinker and am a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to Earl Grey. There are many different varieties of bergamot, some of higher quality than others, and this one is my favorite by far. Numi and Two Leaves & a Bud also make lovely Earl Grey teas but the bergamot in Tazo tea is of a finer variety. I was happy to find that I could order it in bulk through subscribe and save as I drink it at least 5 days a week.5It has a good flavor and can make you feel relaxedMy mom's NUMBER 1 brand and flavor!!!She has been ordering this for many years!It has a good flavor and can make you feel relaxed.She has some after her long hours of exercise regimen.Sometimes it can be found lower in price locally - Wmart or Tget (if they are on sales) but mostly, it is cheaper or same price here on Amazon.5The tea is great as long as you get what you order.I really like this brand of tea. My husband really likes it for the caffeine and I drink it when I wish not to drink coffee. My only complaint is that I had to order it twice and call Amazon before I got the correct order. My first order ended up being the wrong item but I kept it anyways and reordered. Then somehow I got one of six of the boxes. I called Amazon and the guy was helpful and resent the order to me. So the third time was finally correct. Not sure how I feel about trying to purchase this item again here though.4Outstanding earl greyI have tried many brands of earl grey tea. I have found lots of brands that I like, but I have yet to find one better than Tazo's. This is an outstanding tea that is well-balanced. It is stronger than most black teas.5Great Taste!Many verbena teas are either so weak in taste you hardly know what the flavor is, or the mint added is overpowering. Tazo has just the perfect blend of flowery verbena blended with spearmint. Neither is too strong, but the delicate blend is very pleasant with or without sweetner.5I love tea, so for me to stop and write ...I love tea, so for me to stop and write a review it has to be special. A friend asked me to try this tea and of course I was all about it.First the aroma. The orange aroma just busted out like gang busters. It drew my attention right in.Then the flavor. OMG what an amazing taste. It actually tastes like orange. Many teas claim to have the flavor but none like this.This tea is by far the best I've ever had bar none. I am ruined for other tea now. I have boxes of other tea that just sit around in the cupboard waiting for guests to come over to drink those.5One of my favorite teas...whether it is served hot or cold, it's a crowd-pleaser with it's intriguing harmony of good flavorsI really like Wild Sweet Orange. It is one of my Go-To teas, and one I sometimes mix with a white tea I make. While usually I prefer bulk loose tea due to a lower price and higher quality for less money, this is a good herbal tea and one of the best I have had. It also works well both when served hot and cold.I expected this to be a weak tea but was surprised (and happy) to find it has a very distinct flavor unlike any other tea I have had. I would describe this as a flavored tea of medium intensity, with a bolder flavor than many other herbal teas I have had, and one of the strongest orange and lemongrass flavors I have ever had in a tea. You can really taste the lemongrass & orange, with a mild undertone of licorice. How licorice goes together with citrus and lemongrass I do not know, and before having this tea would have told you that it sounded like a terrible combination, but somehow it works really well and the flavors compliment each other to deliver a very intriguing taste. At the same time, it's "intriguing" in a positive sense in that it's not too whacky of a flavor and most people I have shared this with wind up really liking it.The box these are shipped in is very nice...it's a thick box that makes sure these arrive undamaged (and while a very minor detail, it avoids shipping damage that could otherwise ruin half the tea you just paid good money for.) The individual boxes are also well-designed, and it makes things more convenient. The cutout at the bottom to allow the tea bags to individually feed out is nice for the office or staying organized in the kitchen. The design of the tea bag itself is pretty good too. When I first started buying these, they used a tea bag that often tore. However, my most recent order has a different tea bag design which is stronger and holds up better. As that was my biggest complaint of this tea, I am happy it was addressed.As I would describe this tea as "a crowd-pleaser", I find it to be a very versatile tea. The fact that it drinks well both hot and cold opens up many options in itself. Mixed with something like a raw sugar***, it makes a nice sweet refreshing cold tea and is always a huge hit when having friends and family over. As a very different and intriguing flavor that most people have not tried (given not many teas have orange, lemongrass, AND licorice flavors combined), it generates interests (and often discussion). But as a tea that most everyone loves, you can serve it without having to worry that it is a little TOO intriguing. And it has a HEAVENLY aroma that people notice as soon as you start brewing.At about 20 cents per-bag, that's a reasonable price for a premium tea. I like some Tazo teas more than others, but this one really is my favorite. I think it is by-far Tazo's most distinct tea in a sense that it has a very unique flavor and one that won't be easily confused with others. And that appeals to me because I like trying flavors that are different and unique. So this is just an awesome tea and you should buy it....***I noted "raw sugar" based on an observation I have made (which another Reviewer also seemed to observe)...when using a more refined sugar, I find the flavor of the tea itself changes somewhat in a way I can't really describe but it's just "different". However, with a raw sugar such as an unrefined brown sugar or molasses rock sugar, this does not happen and the tea just gets sweeter. I am not sure why this is, but am guessing it has to do with the licorice?5A Very Sub-Par Tea!As I sit here, writing this brief review, I am actually drinking a cup of this very tea. I seriously cannot for the world of me understand where all these glowing reviews of this Tazo, supposedly Earl Grey tea, come from, or how they ever materialized. I bought this tea in hopes of it being at least as good as the Bigelow brand, but it doesn t even come close. It is overly bitter, has hardly ANY of the touted Bergamot in it whatsoever, and is just very sub-par overall, in my opinion; and I ve been drinking tea daily for at least five decades... In fact, over the years, I ve gone through this sort of trying-another-tea exercise, yet time and time again - either due to a temporary un-availability of my favorite Bigelow, or just out of curiosity - have I searched outside the Bigelow family of teas, and every single solitary time I have been rather disappointed or just barely lukewarm towards other teas even though they actually cost substantially more in just about all cases. Thus, I cannot recommend this Tazo Earl Grey tea. There, that constitutes my act of paying it forward .2
