Some were great and some were hardI read the reviews before I purchased these dates. Another person had written that the dates were a little hard and I've found so far (3 pouches) that this is indeed true for about half the pouch. I use the hard ones in cooking hot breakfast cereal or baking so I don't mind as much as if I had bought this entirely for eating. Will I purchase these again? Absolutely. The price is right and since I use them mainly for cooked breakfast cereals and baking I don't mind the hard ones. And the soft ones? Well, I LOVE eating those just as they are.4Healthy Snack for Active LifestyleMy sister recommended this for workouts. I read articles about dates, and true enough, it's very good especially when you're active. I liked the fact you can have it on Subscribe & Save because it's cheaper. And the best part is its high Potassium content, which you need for muscle function.May I suggest Amazon to include this too in your "Add On" Program? A pack of 5 can last me 5 weeks. I realize everyone tastes things a little differently and what's tasty to me might not be to someone else. I thought these dates were absolutely delicious. I've eaten many fresh dates when I worked for several years in the Middle East and these are as good as any I've ever tried. For them to have been prepackaged I didn't think that was too bad.These Sun Maid Dates are moist but not mushy and I found no missed pits or stems. Each package has a perfect mix of some soft and some a little firmer but none that appeared to have been harvested too early. They taste naturally sweet and there's no sugar listed in the ingredients. Some people complained that the dates were dry and hard. They have to be, that's the nature of dates. If they are soft it means that the vendor steamed them. That makes them mushy and rot easily. It is the dryness and high sugar content that keep them from spoiling easily. Deglet noor dates have pretty much the same qualities from any vendors. If you buy soft ones they are going to rot quickly. The only question I have about these is that the back label says, in small type, Sun-Maid growers of California. It also says product of Tunisia. Doesn't California grow enough of them or is it just cheaper to ship them thousands of miles across the ocean.5Top Quality and FlavorfulWe are very pleased with the flavor, taste, texture, and overall quality of the Sun Maid Dates. These pitted dates are my favorite. You have to be careful about how much you consume though because they do contain a lot of sugar, but one or two (chewed slowly) seem to pacify the monster.You have to refrigerate dates after opening a pack, but the other packs can be kept in the pantry for a substantially long period of time, which makes buying the (Pack of 5) more of a bargain.5So soI tried these after being disappointed by Dole dates. These were better but they were very sweet almost as if sugar or preservatives were added. They also had a very gritty texture on most of them as if I bit into raw sugar. I would eat them again but wouldn t buy em again3Not very tastyIt could have just been my pack I received, but these did not have as much flavor as other dates I have purchased here.They were also quite dry and not as dense as others. There were maybe 15-20 dates per pouch.I suppose these would be okay to cut up and put in a trail mix, but I would not use them for baking because they just didn't seem too tasty.I would not repurchase these for the above reasons.3
