Every item well made and very useful.So, my beloved broke her hip, spent 2 weeks in rehab and came home with the usual hip precautions. One of the PTs suggested a hip kit and we picked this one - turned out to be a great choice. She uses every item daily at least, and the 2 different length reachers are perfect for different situations. Some comparison shopping assured me that the price was also reasonable. I would wholeheartedly recommend this for anyone with the misfortune of a broken hip or hip replacement surgery.5Some excellently helpful products hereAfter my husband, I'd say that three of the items in this kit were my best friends while recovering from hip replacement surgery. I cannot say enough good things about the leg lifter, the device for helping you get socks and compression stockings on, and the short grabber. On the other hand, I still haven't figured out what to do with the device with the weird hooks on the end, and the back scrubber is pretty flimsy. I rarely needed the long grabber, and the long shoe horn wasn't as sturdy and helpful as perhaps it could have been. Still, the kit is worth the money.5At least for me: Overpriced for what you getI can only speak for myself; I'm sure that there are many folks who have found that this kit is great for them. But I found that the quality of the items offered here varies too much. While some items are good, others are not, and overall I found this kit to be a poor value. I'll go over my experiences by each individual piece:-- 32" grabber: The biggest disappointment. Mine wasn't assembled correctly and is not designed to be adjusted. It doesn't close fully (it leaves a 1/8" gap) and is therefore is maddeningly frustrating to use. It can't pick up paper or thin fabric, they just slip right out. I mainly bought this kit because I needed another grabber. After paying $42 for this kit, I then had to buy a Grip and Grab (far better quality) to have one that worked.-- 16" grabber: Better assembled than my 32" one. Works fine, but not exceptional.-- Plastic shoehorn: It's thicker than my old metal one, which makes it less convenient to use. On the other hand, the metal one bends, while the plastic one seems a bit stronger. Or at least it will be until it breaks, which I'm kind of waiting for it to do. For that reason, I still usually use the metal one.-- Dressing aid stick: This is fine, plain and simple, very useful for those who need it.-- 42" leg lifter strap: This is the standout of the collection. Very useful for helping to get your legs into bed, or for doing physical therapy. Its stiff wire construction is very clever for allowing you to maneuver it, yet it is still flexible.-- Socks aid: I despise this thing! I spent half an hour once in a battle just to see if I could get it to put my sock on even once. No luck. It's too thick and inflexible, or something. You're better off with one of those turquoise-colored cloth ones that work every time. This is going in the trash.-- Bath sponge: This is a joke. I took one look at it and said "This is going to last three showers." Well, it exceeded my expectations by lasting five or six showers before the sponge ripped out of the thin stick. Another item out of my $42 kit that's gone in the trash.Shop around. I suggest that you avoid kits, especially when you're spending this much for them. I think it's better to buy individual pieces on the basis of individual product quality even if doing that costs a bit more in total. It's likely that you'll be more satisfied with what you buy, and you won't be buying things that frustrate you and just end up in the trash.2Very useful to those with limited movement or mobility.Just what we needed! My neck was broken in a automobile accident and I am in a neck brace that keeps me from turning my head sideways or up and down. These grabbers are perfect for allowing me to pick up things I drop. These are the best grabber we have used. The have a very clean pincer movement and cab even pick up a piece of paper or a small pill.. If you have never used a sock aid before you may have to have a Occupational Therapist show you how to use it, but it is a life saver once you understand how to do it. The same goes with the dressing stick, you will need someone to show you how to best get the most from it. The long shoehorn is pretty self=explanatory and is very useful in keeping the back of the shoe out of your way when slipping your foot into your shoe. The leg lifter comes in handy when you have a leg that does not appropriately respond to commands to move. My husband and I both have Multiple Sclerosis and sometimes his left leg does not want to move and this lifter help him pick it up to put it into pants, etc... I am not a crazy about the long-handled sponge. It does the job when showering, but I think a body pouf would probably work better because you wouldn't have to worry about having the flat side against your skin.Overall, we are very pleased with this packet of aids.5How to maintain some control during recovery when you can t bend, twist, lift, pull or push When the OT came in to train me, I told her I already have that. The sock tool I received training for which has turned out to be very important as wearing gripper socks is an everyday thing during my recovery so far. Reachers, clothing stick high quality. Sponge came off of handle after three weeks post op, but otherwise these tools, along with a Freedom Wand, are so important to maintain some independence!!!5This was really great purchase. There is a complete set of tools that can be helpful to anyone who has limited ability to dress and care for themselves or any post operative limitations while healing. I strongly recommend this product to anyone who is planning orthopedic surgery or who has suffered a lower body injury.5Best Knee and Hip Replacement KitI like everything about this kit especially the grabbers. The shorter (19") grabber is perfect for use when I'm in my wheelchair or using my mobility scooter. Both grabbers pick up even the most difficult items, including individual tooth picks. I love these grabbers so much that I ordered two more of the short ones and will probably order at least one more of the long ones.The leg lifter is great because it has structure to it and can be shaped to my needs. I highly recommend this kit. My only recommendation is that I'd love to have a storage bag in which to store the kit items.The RMS store is great to do business with. My items appeared on time and in excellent condition. I will happily purchase from them again.5works great! I have mastered it to the point that I could overhaul the motor in my car with the tools in the kit. clever design and the inclusion of the shorter reach/grab stick is a real plus. sometimes the longer stick is to long to assists in dressing as by time you are close to getting shorts/pants within reach, you can't hold the stick high enough. The sock assisting device is beyond clever. However there was one drawback with it. Swelling due to the hip replacement surgery was so bad, my foot would not fit into the device. It worked perfectly once the swelling went down. Again, a great item5An absolute must for recovery from hip replacement surgeryI strongly recommend getting a kit like this if you will have hip surgery. I regularly use the grabbers and the sock aid and clothes hook - I would not be able to independently dress and do many things without them. The sponge is helpful in the shower. I don't use the shoehorn much but for many shoes esp dress shoes it would be essential. The loop is really important for when you first are recovering from surgery, I am more than two weeks out and no longer use it much but at first it was necessary to use it to get into bed and to get into a car passenger seat. For me, this was the perfect combination. For someone who has a lot of tie shoes a kit like this plus elastic ties would be good.5This is a must if you have had a HIp or knee replacement.These tools have been invaluable. I do not always have someone around and the tools helped me to be independent.The sock tool is the best thing for putting on Teds. I found I liked putting on my own socks more than having someone else do it. OT showed me how to use the grabber and shoe horn to put on my shoes. Use the grabber to hold on to the tongue of the shoes get the the shoe on the foot and finish with the shoe horn. Every day in my mind I am thanking whoever put this product together. THANKS5
