For hiking boots, these are fantastic.The Journey Hiker insoles are slightly more rigid/supportive than the Pinnacle Maxx insoles, and I feel are a very good investment. I use all of the Powerstep models for a multitude of shoe styles, and the Journey Hikers are what I use in hiking boots. I will never use anything else- these are great! 5So far I like them.I've only worn my Lowa boots with these insoles a couple times so far but they feel good. The arches are definitely higher and the heel feels significantly higher as well. They added a lot of comfort over the worn out factory insoles, but I'm still getting used to the new feel. I've also needed to adjust the tightness of my laces as these raised my foot a bit in the shoe. Overall I'm happy with them so far. 4Wow!I always change out my inserts when I get new boots. I was reserved in my opinion when I got these, they are fairly firm and when I put them in my shoes my feet didn't jump for joy. Today I took them on a 7 mile hike. We have had a wet spring and the cows have beat the trail up like I haven't seen in years! Due to the uneven terrain my hike took about 45 minutes longer. My feet are pretty tired when I get home even without the rough conditions. Getting home I changed into tennis shoes as usual and was able to take the dog out for 2 more miles. Are my feet pain free, no but I don't have burning aching feeling I usually have and after walking my dog my feet feel pretty much back to normal! 5I had a pair of these in some hiking boots ...I had a pair of these in some hiking boots for about 50 combined miles of moderate hiking. Basically weekend hiking for 2 months. A large hole wore into the insole under the right ball of the foot. I followed up with the company. They told me they would send a one time replacement pair, but the wear problem would likely reoccur due to this being a double-layer product and not ideal of hiking or athletic activity (?). Their words. They suggested for hiking, I should go with a single layer insole as that would be less likely to fail quickly. These products are specifically marketed as heavy duty, athletic, for hiking. Anyway I obliged on their suggested replacement which they sent quickly enough. I can not stand them. Very uncomfortable. Paper thin and hard. Completely unimpressed.... for this price tag I feel thoroughly ripped off given the abysmal performance of the product. 1Your search for the perfect insole is overStanding on my feet for over 10 hours a day on concrete floors was definitely taking its toll on me. The fact that I have flat feet just made things worse. I tried several different insoles before I came to this one, including the custom fit ones that require you to stand on a machine to analyze your feet. Each time I tried something new, I noticed improvements for a few days if at all. Since getting these, I have had almost none of the foot and knee pain I had been experiencing. I am sold on these and glad I tried them before going to get medical insoles made! 5The ones that finally helped!I have Plantar Fasciitis and in the past 6 months I must have tried a dozen orthotic insoles. Each would feel good for a day or so then the pain returned. Ive been wearing these Journey by Powerstep insoles for a few weeks and I actually feel like I'm finally healing. They are comfortable, fit to the shoes and have a good heel support and bounce. After a week I ordered a second pair for another pair of shoes with the same results.Highly recommended. 5Little bit high of an arch IMO, but great overallBought a pair of these to replace the stock insoles in my Salomon Men's Quest 4D 2 GTX hiking boots. I wear these boots almost every single day, 356 days per year and I do a lot of hiking/backpacking and they have been to several multi-day electronic music festivals. These insoles definitely brought new life to the boots and when everyone else's feet are destroyed at the end of a day of hiking or dancing, I have no idea what they are talking about. The ONLY complaint I have is that the arches are pretty high in my opinion. My feet must be a bit uneven, because the left insole's arch seems much higher/stiff than the right. I have bent the left one down a little bit to "flatten" it.. and it feels great for a half hour or so, but then it snaps back into its original form. So, if I could get the exact same ones but with a little less severe arch I think they would be perfect. I toss 'em right into the washing machine and dryer when they need a clean.hint: before putting these in your shoes, put a couple dryer sheets under there.. seems to help keep things fresh till the next time your wash the shoes and insoles.UPDATE october 5 2018After a few dozen runs through the washer/dryer, one of them finally bit the dust. The plastic base part warped from the heat in the dryer and curled up / separated from the "padding" part. Had to toss 'em. Product lasted about ~15 months. They would've lasted a lot longer, though, if i hadn't run them through the dryer. If you let them air dry they'd probably last much longer. Bought another pair of these, and they fit/feel great, just like new. I had complained of a fairly high arch in the first pair i bought, but the new ones I got (Aug 2018) didn't have such a steep arch so they are great for me. I am going to let them air dry this time and hopefully they'll last longer. 4Powersteps have sadly changedSo sad to say powerstep has changed for the worse. They used to be the very best solution for heel spurs, now they bruise your heels and, in a cruel irony, will add new heel pain even as the arch support helps stop the pain from plantar fasciitis. I am getting desperate to find something like the old ones.I have owned more than 25 pairs over 10+ years, and they were a lifesaver when heel spurs were debilitating me. I was a champion for the brand and have recommended to so many people. In recent years, though, the design of the hard inner part has changed and the edge around your heel is too sharp, with far too narrow of a heel cup, and the edge pushes it's way through the minor cushioning quite quickly.I have quite narrow heels and feet, and cannot imagine anyone with my size shoe (women's 8.5) not having a significant part of their heel overhanging the hard/sharp edge of this inner heel cup. The top layer of fabric will hold up for a while so you don't see the hard plastic poke through, but it will be bruising your heel and will wear all the way through long before the older versions would wear out.I hoped these "hiker" versions might be different, but they are pretty much exactly the same as the current pinnacles. I've tried five pairs over the last couple years, and all have this new issue, while none of my old ones did. In fact, I have some old ones that are so very worn that they look like heck and the layers are totally separating and worn, but they don't have that crazy sharp plastic edge poking out. So, they are more comfortable after hundreds of hours are wear than these brand new ones after just a few hours of wear.I'm wearing the way-too-squishy powersteps that don't have any rigid support, and it's just not enough arch support for me, but I can't use these new rigid ones for more than a short time before the sharp edge is bruising me. Please comment if you have found insoles like the old powersteps!! Thanks! 2not the same arch placementthese don't have the same arch placement as the pink or blue ones from PS. They are wider but the BIG deal here is they MAKE my foot supinate. I already supinate, I don't need help. The arch support placement is in these inserts, is toward the back of what we commoners think is the arch. So back by my heel. Which hurts. They are a hair longer than the pink ones. I have photos, but I have to get them off my phone. I'll see if they let me update this with photos later. returning. 1They fit my size 13 Skechers perfect.The arch support wasn't painful after wearing for several hours. The heel provided good containment to keep your heel supported. I've tried a couple kinds and this was the best for me.Update 8/20/2019- Still the best to date. From basically a crippling walk to walking a 9 hole golf course. Some soreness at home afterward, but good to go the next day. At the end of every day I can still feel a little nagging, but I am able to take full steps and work all the muscles out still. I believe it will be completely gone at some point. The success with these I believe is in the deeper narrower heel cup and slightly higher arch support. 5
