In deciding to incorporate these into my daily routine, and in order to determine as best I can what the proper supplements and dosages are that I should take, I've decided that a good vitamin C supplement is important to include. The guidance I'm relying on, from Eating Well for Optimum Health: The Essential Guide to Food, Diet, and Nutrition among other resources, is that I should take 500 mg daily, and I've also read that vitamin C products with rose hips are better than those without rose hips. After reviewing the various choices available here on Amazon and elsewhere, I decided to select this Nature's Way product.The ingredients of these capsules are straightforward - each contains 500 mg Vitamin C, plus 100 mg rose hips, with gelatin, cellulose, magnesium stearate and silica as non-active ingredients.There are also no artificial ingredients, preservatives, yeast, milk, lactose, wheat, sugar or soy. The product labeling does not specify whether or not these supplements are manufactured in the U.S. and contacted Natures Way to obtain the following additional information directly from them:- Vitamin C-500 with Rose Hips does not contain any ingredients known to contain gluten. The label for this product is scheduled to be updated shortly and Gluten Free will be added to the label.- they are manufactured in the U.S. (Green Bay, WI)- the purity of Nature's Way products is tested by their in-house lab- per Nature's Way: "All of our suppliers are qualified prior to providing Nature s Way with raw materials. However, unlike many manufacturers, we do not rely on vendor certificates of analysis, but instead we test each incoming lot of raw material against a set of quality requirements including identity, potency and purity to include heavy metals, residual solvents, microbial contamination and any other known adulterants"- They sent me a copy of their Quality Standards letter, which describes the many tests used in their facilities to monitor quality. They also mentioned the following which I think are notable (most of the following text is taken from their letter):--- The facility in which Enzymatic Therapy , Nature's Way , and Integrative Therapeutics(tm) brands are manufactured has Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Certification. GMP Certification confirms that a facility is in compliance with the dietary supplement GMP standards. QAI confirms annually that our manufacturing processes and facilities are compliant with the National Organic Program (NOP) rules for the production of organically certified products 5Great Vitamin CThis is an excellent, highly effective Vitamin C, particularly for the money when compared to the higher quality brands such as Solgar, Solaray, etc.. The formula is very natural and why I chose it, for helping fight off advanced stages of Lymes. Thanks to the Rose Hips, it helps pack a nice punch. Take with food and plenty of water or juice... Also, the capsule is a nice size and much easier to digest than larger tablets, which can be hard on the stomach and difficult to safely swallow. Again, especially for the price, I would actually rate this as a very high quality product. They deserve 5 stars for what they have done here. Thanks and nice job to Nature's Way.... 5
