No longer has DAO!I purchased this product because I have used it often in the past. I haven't needed it as much over the past couple of years, but I figured it was time to get a new bottle. Once I received the bottle and opened it I noticed it looked different. I turned the bottle over to see that it says it no longer contains dao. This is frustrating since it is not what I thought it was. I figured since the front looked the same that it was the same product, but man was I wrong. Read the ingredients before you buy! 1No Longer contains the needed DAOUsed this product in the past when it contained the actual DAO enzyme,it worked. Product has changed,contains NO DAO, only a proprietary blend. Pictures no longer reflect bottle contents. Very expensive and Highly misleading for what you would now receive. 1This product does not contain the ingredients as advertised on ...This product does not contain the ingredients as advertised on the Amazon site. It is supposed to have diamine oxidase but instead contains a bunch of other enzymes and compounds that have nothing to do with breaking down histamine. It should not be called Histame as advertised. I have been given a refund and will return the product. I ordered this to help my wife deal with hives due to excess histamine.Instead I got a product that contains Quercetin that is contraindicated for the meds she is on. You need to remove it or change the list of ingredients! 1Product changed, no longer contains DAOPlease be aware this no longer contains DAO!! 1Great product!I tried this product recently because I was having a lot of reactions to food including skin itching, itching in my ears, watery eyes, stuffy nose, headaches, racing heart rate after eating and many more. I was amazed at how well this relieved my symptoms and actually helped my asthma too. I have IBS and my GI tract is not working well right now. The enzyme diamine oxidase is produced in the lining of the GI tract. So, if your GI tract has been effected by bacterial imbalance, candida, or any prolonged illness, you may not be producing enough of this enzyme on your own. Green tea also helps keep the histamine levels under control, but by a different mechanism.I tried the Swanson brand and it didn't work very well. I recommend this brand for now. The only problem for me is that the effect wears off in about 2-3 hours and I have to re-dose myself. 5Even my naturopathic doctor recommendedThis stuff works pretty well. I was having problems breaking out in hives for some time and was looking for a product that could help. I purchased this and it does work. If you are sensitive to high histamine foods, you can take with food and it will help to break down the histamines so that you don't have a reaction, or at least not as big of a reaction. I brought these to my naturopathic doctor as well, and she also mentioned that they would help. I have to say though, that this product did not solve all of my problems. And the downside is that you have to take it every time you eat high histamine foods. What worked for me was going through a period of cutting these high histamine foods out of my diet and letting my histamines return to a normal level and then I could start eating some high histamine foods in moderation. 5False Advertising (No DAO)If you look closely at the label, you will see that it contains Diamine Oxidase (dao) but the delivered product is totally different. Without this key enzyme, the body will not be able to break down excess histamine. Save extra money by buying Vitamin C and B6 instead of this product. 1Questionable ingredient associated with colorectal cancerOne of the primary ingredients of Histame is prolyl endopeptidase (PEP). You can find several reports about this substance on Google. One report says that PEP is found in significantly higher amounts in the blood plasma of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients than in the blood of persons who do not have CRC. The article is titled "Prolyl endopeptidase activity is correlated with colorectal cancer prognosis." Another article ("The determination of PEP activity in the plasma may be a safe, minimally invasive and inexpensive way to define the aggressiveness of CRC in daily practice.") indicates that the more PEP in the blood, the more aggressive the CRC is. I wrote to the president of Marilyn Nutraceuticals and asked why his people would have chosen a substance associated with CRC as a major ingredient when the product was reformulated. It's been a month and I've had no reply. 1I think it helpsI take this with meals along with tons of other digestive enzymes and Methyl Genetic Nutritions Histamine Scavenger.My IBS is 85-95% gone. I think this stuff helps.I work with a Naturopath and she found a lot of genetic mutations in the area of histamines. I apparently don't process them or something wonky and it affects my gut. Unfortunately the Histamine Scavengers which I think are the main help, are only available through my doctor.These are expensive but might help you. Worth a go if you have Histamine issues or IBS. 3Not as advertised.I received mine today and will return unopened. The front label is the same, but the ingredients have changed from the one pictured when I ordered to some vitamins and supplements believed to enhance the body's production of DAO but contains no Diamine Oxidase. You cannot charge for a $33 bottle of supplements and then change it without changing your ad! Now I've waited a week for it and still don't have what I need. 1
