Attractive designer bar for the tub/shower.I chose this Moen YG0718CH Isio 18-Inch Designer Grab Bar because I needed an assist for getting in the tub after surgery. I wanted a bar that would look like a towel bar rather than an assist bar. I also bought this rubber mat Salinka Natural Rubber Luxurious Anti Slip Bath & Shower Mat - Non-toxic - Odorless- Latex & PVC FREE - Universal use - Suitable for Homes, Hospitals, Care Homes, Hotels, Gyms - 16 x 28 in.. The bar is the perfect size to hang the mat on to dry after my shower. I'm totally happy with both items and will review the mat later.This bar is a 5-star item but I deducted one star because the left round cup doesn't grip like it should. The right side was in and the left side attached before it was noticeable. Because my bathroom wall is cement covered by thick tile, the installer said the loose grip wouldn't hurt anything but still it is tacky to send out from manufacturing a flaw like that. I can remember a time when the item would be considered a "second" and sold as such. Overall, though, the bar is attractive, does not look like an assist bar (BTW I had it hung straight rather than at a slant) and the slightly loose left cup doesn't show so it is what it is--an assist bar that looks like a towel bar! 4Bought the 36 inches long and something VERY cool that the site does not showBought the 36 inches long and something VERY cool that the site does not show: it has a rubber grip in the back to make it very firm if you are trying to stand up from a chair or just to regular support while taking a shower (photo attached so you get the idea). I totally recommend it. 5Overall good, only one chance to installNow that it's installed, I really like it. But there are some issues with the installation steps and instructions (like most similar products, it seems). And now that it's up, the flanges are impossible to get off without damaging the wall. I plan to paint the wall it's installed on, and it looks like I will have to spend time painting around the flanges instead of being able to pop them off the wall surface and back on (which I can do with another brand of grab bar I have). 4Warning about the mounting system included with the bar!The bar is beautiful and the rubber grips on the back side are an added feature. One WARNING!!!! the bars do not ship with the SecureMount system!!!! They only ship with the flange and screws for mounting to a stud. You must order the SecureMount (SMA 1000CH or SMA 1005CH) separately if you are like most installations and not mounting directly to a stud on each side of the bar.Amazon showing the video for the SMA1005CH SecureMount system with the product information is a bit misleading. 5Strong & RecommendedWe use this in the shower that our grand kids use when they are visiting. These are very strong grab bars and provide a sturdy place to hold while in the shower. The bottom edge has a textured non-slip strip that precludes soapy hands from sliding. We have a longer version of this bar in our main shower mounted at an angle and it is excellent when standing up from the seat at the end of the shower. 5Reasonably Priced and Well MadeVery stylish when compared to the regular functional safety bars. I was building a new bath for our house and wanted something sleek and modern, these weren't exactly what I had in mind, but they do look nice and work well. I found some from another source that were the right look but too small. I think the market for designer grab bars is expanding, so the selection should be better as time goes forward. For most baths this would look perfect, and it is pleasant to use with the rubber grip area. It will show water spots, so if you're a perfectionist know you'll need to wipe this down after every use. 5HorribleOne of the collars that covers the screws doesn't have the detents required to make it snap into place. So it hangs loose and looks horrible. It's difficult to send it back now that I have six holes in my wall. To make things worse the screws are very soft; one actually bent going in. Finally, to top it off, the install itself is ridiculously complex. You have to take six tiny set screws out to get the collars on, and literally stand on your head trying to get them back in behind the small gap between the collar and the wall.I'm surprised, as I've used Moen products whenever I wanted a premium product, but not this time.I've attached photos showing the missing detents. 1Very nice as well as functional!I purchased two of these grab bars along with 2 of the 18 inch ones for my new master bathroom shower. They have a nice grip on the back side to help with not slipping. They feel very secure and have made us feel better safety in the shower. They look nice as well as function well. I would have like a little longer screws, but these did grip into the blocks that were placed behind the cultured marble to support them. We are both older (middle 60 to early 70) and wanted a handicap ready shower for when we may need it--these grab bars were just what we were looking for. 4Sturdy, nice designSturdy, nice design. I wanted a different brand to match the ones in newly added master bath but they were out of stock. These are very similar but have the black rubber grips spaced across the underside of the bars. I plan to use these as towell bars & hope the rubber doesn't impede towel hanging 5Well made. A bit "brighter" than some other brushed nickel fixtures. Not crazy about grips.Seems well made. Very sturdy. Installation is a little fiddly because you need to peek behind the base covers and work very close to the wall with a little allen wrench (supplied). Came with extra set screws which is good because you need to back them out almost entirely during installation and I dropped one.The color is a bit brighter than my brushed shower valve (Riobel) and shower and tube spouts (Jaclo). It appears from the pics that the handle is completely tubular and round but the inner part of the handle has 3 indents and each has a black silicone grip material. I would have preferred if the entire thing was tubular and might not have bought these had I been able to notice this detail from the picture. For this reason I rate the product 4 stars instead of 5. But if you don't mind this feature then I think you'd be happy with this grab bar.Details say "12 inch" but the overall length is 15" to the outside of the base covers. The posts and mounting brackets are 12" on center. If you mount this vertically over a stud then you can mount both ends into the stud. But if you are going to install horizontally it won't span the distance between standard studs (16" on center). Since I was putting up new shower walls I put in a backing plate between two studs where I wanted the horizontal handle to be mounted. If you can't get at least one end into wood studs or backers (both ends even better) I'm not sure I would trust this or any handle with just hollow-wall anchors. That said, some hollow-wall anchors are rated for quite a lot of weight.Recap: 1) might not match your other brushed fixtures especially if they are more on the pewter side 2) has rubber grips on inner part of handle 3) make sure you can securely mount this or any 12" bar. 4
