These things were yummers and easy to makeThese things were yummers and easy to make; however, I suggest soaking them overnight and throwing them in a crockpot on low with about two extra teaspoons of salt plus one tablespoon of minced garlic (I love boiled peanuts softer as well as salt and garlic stuff so this is what I did.) Being from SC boiled peanuts is one of those things that scream "home" when we go and visit, well now I don't have to visit lol I can just order peanuts online and save gas money. I shared some of my boiled peanuts with my friends for a small fee and froze the left overs, hopefully they get addicted to what I shared and I can become an overnight millionaire off of this purchase. Thank you Amazon for yet another great product.5Good and EasyI'm from Florida where practically every corner store or gas station sells Cajun seasoned fresh boiled peanuts. You are literally able to be scoop peanuts seasoned juices however you want from their warming crock pots!...Until I moved to Texas :-(( There are a hand full of places that sells boiled peanuts in a crock pot and even then, they either tasted canned or lack correct seasoning(s). Now that I've found this, I have my own go to when I get a nani-poo for Cajun seasoned fresh boiled peanuts, I'm set. The seasoning provides a good foundation for my extras (crushed garlic and 6 other secret ingredients of mine) and with a 3 step cooking technique, I have neighbors and co-workers thinking I order my boiled peanuts from Florida lol. When I'm ready to start a business, I think I'll let them know they're homemade....if I tell them beforehand, I'll have to change jobs and move since mine are just that good! ;-) Thanks a bunch Chris and Dave's, YOU ROCK!!!5Great for snacking!!Love making my own Boiled Peanuts. These come with a packet of Cayanne pepper and a separate packet of salt for flavor. Here's my routine with a 6 Qt Pressure cooker (Instant Pot IP-DUO60 7-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker 6Qt/1000W, Stainless Steel Cooking Pot and Exterior). Only 1/2 of the pack fits in my 6qt pressure cooker including the amount of water required to cook.- I soak them for at least half an hour in water to dissolve any dirt on the shells.- Then I add them to the pressure cooker and fill it with water until there is at least about 2-3 inches of water above the top of the peanuts.- I add half the packet of salt and cayenne pepper included with the kit as seen in the picture of the bottom of the kit. The entire packet of both the salt and pepper seasoning are enough if you were to cook the entire bag.- Although not required, I also add about 2-4 tbsp of Huy Fong's Chili Garlic or Sriracha for a spicy kick (see picture for a view of the huy fong bottles). You could also try adding a packet of taco seasoning instead. The bottles of hot sauce shown next to the packet of course are mine and did not come with order.- I let it cook for 2 hours on high pressure. We start to eat after the 2 hours cycle on high pressure is over cause we're impatient folks. Our electric pressure cooker goes into a "keep warm" cycle after it's done cooking, so we let it sit in the warm mode for 6-8 hrs (not to be confused with slow cook mode). It tastes softer and more flavorful after the 6-8 hrs of keep warm cycle which is when we get our 2nd filling. We opt for the warm cycle cause we're usually craving after our first fill. I suppose you could opt for the Slow cook option for 4 hrs after pressure cooking instead of the keep warm mode too.Whats great about an electric pressure cooker is that you can start cooking at night and you'll have them in perfect condition by morning.**** If this review or the pictures helped, or if you're just bored and enjoy clicking things - could I trouble you for a "Yes" or a "Helpful" vote below? Many thanks mate! 5Excellent Product Package. This kit was everything I hoped it would be. Plenty of peanuts per bag, the right amount of Cajun seasoning, and the correct peanuts. I would recommend adding just as much salt as is in the kit to achieve that true 'southern roadside' flavor. I cooked mine in a Crock-Pot for 20 hours, of which 8 hours was on 'low' while I slept, 12 hours on 'high'.5Home-boiled is better.I have been married for 48 years to a lady from Savannah, GA, who almost immediately upon taking the vows, introduced this naive Missouri-boy to boiled peanuts. That is, the kind boiled on ones own stove. And there the love accelerated in more than one way.We still make them, but find it harder to find good raw peanuts. They used to be sold in grocery stores. Seems no more. At least we can't find them. Amazon to the rescue! These are the real deal. Buy them! When you get through boiling them they're just like "down home" boiled peanuts.Have fun!5A wonderfully southern taste of home In the frozen urban jungle of ChicagoWe really enjoyed the peanuts. My wife and I were raised in Florida and lived there until last year when we moved to Chicago. For everything we love about Chicago we do miss a few things from home and boiled peanuts is a biggie. I've been eating these for the past three days and they are sooo good. We even sent one bag to our daughter in Colorado since she also misses that taste of home.I didn t have any problem cooking them I have a large stock pot that I was able to dump one bag in and fill with water. I did boil for about 4 hours and they were fine. I like mine a bit more al dente so after the four hours that were just about right for me. But they hadn t absorbed much liquid. However, it was later in the evening and I put the whole pot in the fridge overnight. When i got up in the morning i dumped them into a crock pot and let them heat up. BINGO!They had a bit of a bite to them and they were all juicy and delicious. OH MAN we couldn't stop eating them.Keep an eye on your water when you are boiling. The packaging doesn t say how much of a boil (fast boil vs a simmer). The first batch was fast boiling and running out of water. The adding water frequently diluted the Cajun flavor I think. Second time I brought to a fast boil then backed down to a simmering boil and that took less added water. Still not overly spicy. If you like yours hot, I m sure you could add some of your own spices and heat up the flavor a bit.But all in all, I am very pleased and will no doubt order again. One question that I don t think the packaging addressed was how long I could wait to cook these. They are dried peanuts so not green but not sure if I could wait days or weeks. Love to be able to order and hang on to a few bags and stretch it out a bit. But I guess I will just have to eat them all this week....oh well.5A very good alternative to fresh peanutsThere's really no substitute for using fresh, raw peanuts, but this comes pretty close. It's fairly labor intensive unless you use a very large pot because you have to periodically add water as it boils off. But in my case, I keep the heat on full tilt which means I can't use a lid or the pot will boil over. Also I'm using a normal spaghetti pot which just barely holds all of the peanuts in one bag. So in my case, with reboiling fresh water added to the pot, it takes about 3 hours and most of the peanuts come out a little on the crunchy side. Not hard crunchy but what I would call al dente. The only real criticism I have is that if you cook the peanuts for too long, they go from al dente to soft pretty quickly. The softness has a sort of grainy mouth feel rather than the softness you get from fresh peanuts. But given the difficulty in finding fresh nuts, this is a very, very good alternative. The only change you might want to make is to add a bit more salt but this is really a matter of taste.5Good quality needs some spice to add heatOk so I ve lived in MN my whole life so I m no boiled peanuts expert however, I recently took a vacation down south and happened across boiled peanuts at a gas station. Tried them and had to make them for friends back home. I like this kit because it comes with all the spices but I felt like it needed something to add some heat. The kit directions are simple to follow and nearly impossible to screw up. They Taste great, softened nicely, and the quantity in each bag fills a standard crockpot nicely.4they are better after cooking for 24 hourswe have ordered and reordered this product. we have had boiled peanuts in the crock pot every weekend. we just put the salt and seasoning it came with in, along with a handful of jalepenos.. we boil for around 3 hours then cook in a crock pot all weekend.to us, they are better after cooking for 24 hours. we like them cooked a lot and softer and the saltiness comes out the longer they cook.. have to add a cup or two of water here and there when boils out..always make sure they are covered in water5So easy and so delicious! This kit is amazing! I opted to make the boiled peanuts in the slow cooker (6 hours on high and then left on warm for the next few hours). The seasoning is perfect. I stirred the peanuts every hour so I could also check the water level (never needed to add more). These could not have turned out more perfectly for this southern gal living in the Midwest. They were a hit! I'll be making them again this weekend!5
