Superior way to get folic acidI really appreciate Life Extension products and their optimized folate is a superior way to make sure you are getting the most from the product. Blood work showed I needed folate so this is a good way for me to get what I need.5Great supplement that everyone should look into!!I was told by my doctor to try this supplement to help with my depression. I'm on medication for it, but there was a plateau effect. This helped get me into remission from my depression!! I also have Hashimoto's Disease and it helps relieve the side effects from that as well.5Great value for the moneyHusband does not absorb these nutrients due to a deficiency in his genetics. This allows him to get his nutrients and protects him from heart disease and his chronic pain5ExcellentKeeps my folic levels good. I have MTHFR only one of the genes instead of 2. Only the methyl folic acid can get my levels on track5Good valueThis is the best price I ve been able to find for folate. I have to take folate, not folic acid, due to MTHFR and this is my go-to product.5Worked well raising low folate levelHas done the trick....I am feeling much more energetic after this raised my low folate level.5Research. Ask your doctor. Not daily.I've been using this for months. It is not an every day supplement. My blood tests very high with daily use, so I use every 3+ days or more. Check with your doctor and if you can afford it, try a genetic test to see your methylation status. This product passes the blood-brain barrier better than most B vitamins. Do not take Folic acid. It is synthetic and added to many foods but does not act in the same way as an actual folate supplement. Research before you start taking anything. This works very well if it's what your body requires. Again: not an every day supplement. High levels can cause harm.5Very Large Capsules and Need a Ton of Them to be EffectiveI was tested for the gene mutation for which these are used. In a nutshell people with the mutation are unable to effectively metabolize folic acid which means only a small portion of folic acid is available to the body. Folic acid is critical for neurotransmittors so people with the mutation are often depressed and resistent to antidepressants. There are also implications for heart disease and migraines. So this is a critical issue.A family member who is a physician learned she had the gene mutation and a bunch of us then got tested and it goes 4 generations in the family. OK so no issues with it being necessary.My problems are: (1) these pills are huge and are not coated so they are really difficult to swallow, and (2) my physician said the studies show that there was no difference between these and placebo until you take 15mg, which means 15 of these pills daily. That makes them incredibly expensive.So I checked with my health insurance company and they cover 15mg coated pills called Deplin. These on Amazon are in effect the generic for Deplin. Deplin is still costly but I can take one coated pill once a day that is smaller than a multi-vitamin.I understand that not all health insurance companies cover Deplin so you might be stuck with these. I would talk to your doctor and get the gene test and go from there.It is a huge expense unless you know you can't metabolize folic acid. If you can metabolize folic acid then you don't need to waste tons of money on these.3Excellent productMy husband has to take folate to keep some of his levels under control. Good price and product.5no elevation in mood, not Methylfolatehasn't had the same effect as the disolve tabs. No increase in mood, not mind sharp.taste nasty, chalky. Will not repurchase.1
