Perfect for Cheesy popcorn!!!I use it to make cheesy popcorn for my family. We love it! I use about 1/4 - 1/2 cup for large batch and do not find it to be overly salty as I have been reading in a few other reviews (sometimes I even add salt). I guess if you ate it straight out if the bag it might seem too salty, but used as part of a recipe it is just right. I bake the popcorn after coating it with the cheese powder, and it really brings out the cheese flavor. I haven't tried it for anything else, but would like to experiment with it some. I am ordering more today. We ran out and now my husband and kids are begging me to get more so I can make popcorn again!5Use it for mac-n-cheese, slightly tart flavor compared to KratWe use this cheese powder to make mac-n-cheese with whatever pasta shape suits our fancy. My son loves to pick out the noodle shape. For a pound of pasta, we find that it takes about 1/4 of butter and 1/4 cup of milk with about 1/3 cup cheese to get the taste/sauce consistency how we like it. You can adjust the cheese depending on how cheesy you want it. It is a more tart flavor cheese than the orange stuff in the Kraft box but we like it that way. I keep it in a canning jar because we live on the coast where moisture is a problem.5Convinced this is the same as the pricey white cheddar mac and cheese I was buying!I'm the mother of 3 kids who are in love with Annie's white cheddar shells and cheese. I used to exclusively buy Annie's because it is natural, but found that it became harder and harder to get it for a reasonable price (in my area it can be $2 or more a box), so I started trying alternates, and this is the best one I've found. I'm convinced it's the same, because my kids (who are NOT easily fooled when it comes to food) cannot tell the difference. I just buy the small shells, cook them, and then mix about 1/4 cup of the powder with some milk and coconut oil until it makes a sauce and top the shells with it. No complaints from the kids, which makes me a VERY happy mom!I'm not sure how many boxes of Annie's the package equates to, but I'm thinking more than 30. The kids request macaroni and cheese a LOT and I only buy this about 3 times a year.5has chemicals and the taste is not that greatI have been happy with Frontier products up until now. This product is just plain gross, it tastes horrible. The label on the bag that I received is not the same as the label pictured on the website. The product has tapioca maltodextrin in it, which is a dangerous ingredient for anyone who is diabetic or approaching high glucose levels. It also has silicon dioxide and disodium phospate. How can a company get away with calling a product organic with these ingredients in it? I will not buy from Frontier again. The product came in a a silver plastic bag which looks sloppy.1POPCORN, YES!A bit reluctant to order given reviews of salty taste and caking. When the bag arrived I tasted and agree that initially, it was super salty. But I ordered for popcorn and decided to wait for the results before rendering judgement. Also without the additive cellulose, I expected a different texture than the grocery store brands filled with additives. So pleased with the results. Has just enough flavor to make the popcorn taste like the other non GMO bags, and without oil (my new Orville R air popper also from Amazon,) and a heavy dose of salt the snack was entirely enjoyable. FYI This comes in a bag but I pour it into a glass jar and refrigerate. Flavor I prefer on my popcorn so will reorder.5Love the Frontier brand, not so much this cheese powderThis cheese seems to be a quality product but we had previously purchased King Aurthur Flour's Vermont Cheddar powder and LOVED the flavor of that cheese. Compared to the King A's, the Frontier cheese tastes off, like a sub-par generic "cheese-flavored" product or something. We purchased the Frontier this time because it was so much cheaper and we had gobbled up the King A's cheese and were looking for something more affordable.... we now have twice as much Frontier cheese and haven't used it nearly as often because it's just not as tasty to us. If you add a bit of garlic to whatever recipe you're making it balances out the odd cheese flavor to make it pretty tasty, but we're still going back to the King A's cheese powder once we use up the Frontier cheese.2Ingredients not as advertised! Contains maltodextrinFalse ingredient advertising! Amazon description states "Organic cheddar cheese (cultured organic milk, salt, microbial enzymes), organic nonfat milk, organic whey, salt, disodium phosphate", but label on delivered product states "Organic cheddar cheese (organic pasturized milk, salt, cheese cultures, enzymes), organic tapioca maltodextrin, salt, silicon dioxcide, disodium phosphate, lactic acid, citric acid, natural mixed tocopherols (vitamin E).1One StarAre you kidding?! silicon dioxide and acids ! that is not what on the picture! shame!1False Advertising: Not Bulk White Cheese Powder, contains chemicalsI purchased this without reading the fine print, silly me. This "bulk cheese powder" is mislabeled, it should be labeled "cheese blend" because it contains chemicals, ugh. The bag itself says "cheddar cheese blend" but the Amazon description does NOT, this needs to be changed! I purchased this off the Amazon description. Just because an ingredient like maltodextrin doesn't make you ill quickly (which would technically make it a poison), doesn't mean one should eat it regularly. (I actually get ill, stomach upset, anytime I eat foods containing maltodextrin so some of us Are sensitive) As a pharmacist, I don't recommend food items that contain artificial (or even many so-called "natural") chemicals to any of my patients, and I certainly don't eat them myself! I have bought other Frontier items in the past and been satisfied. But not this. I'd rather have my cheese powder clump a little than eat maltodextin and silicon dioxide, thank you very much. Extremely disappointed with companies that mix Organic food with nasty chemicals.1Makes great organic white cheddar popcornWe bought this powder specifically to make white cheddar popcorn and it didn't disappoint. The end result was popcorn that tasted almost identical to storebought. Just be sure to not overflavor as this powder does have a very high salt content. We consider it a guilty pleasure, so we don't eat it every day.The price may seem high, but it isn't when you consider how much you're getting and how long it lasts (we transferred to a jar and stored in fridge). Compare to the price of a single bag of organic white cheddar popcorn from the grocery store ($2.99+). This stuff makes many, many equivalent bags.To boot, this cheese is made using microbial enzymes, so it's also vegetarian.How we make our organic white cheddar popcorn:- Organic popcorn kernels- Organic canola oil- This powder- Air popper- Large resealable storage bag1. Use air popper to pop the kernels into a large bowl.2. Transfer the popcorn to the bag.3. Drizzle a small amount of canola oil into the bag, seal and shake.4. Add small amounts of cheddar powder until desired cheesiness is reached. Shake after each addition. Add more canola oil if powder is not sticking to popcorn.5. Transfer popcorn back into large bowl. Enjoy.5
