Customer Reviews

Liked it a little less than other unna boot bandages we've triedCompared with the other Unna Boot product I bought (a Gelocast Unna Boot Bandage that had chamomile), this one is just ok...I buy them for my young daughter, who has pretty severe eczema, as it was recommended by her doctor as a soothing way to wrap up her worst spots.PROS:1. Seems to more or less get the job done in terms of helping my daughter's inflamed skin get a little calmer2. Wet, easy to cut, all the things you really need something like this to be.CONS:1. Compared to other Unna boots we've both, this one the film on it felt thicker (which might be a pro for some people/treatments, ended up being a con for us because it didn't necessarily soothe our daughter more... but it did make it feel ickier when we were applying it.It works fine. If it were significantly cheaper than other options we'd get it again, as it is we'll probably go with options that have chamomile (which seems to soothe our daughter a little more) and feels "ickier" (which I know, not a very scientific term. For people who want a slightly thicker gel, etc this might be a good buy... 3Unna Boot on Leg UlcerI do not know if it is only me, but Unna Boot on a leg ulcer is very painful. However, if you can tolerate the pain (which seems impossible!) this is the best way to treat an open wound (if you are not allergic to zinc). 5Great ProductThese are fantastic and have a good fabric that holds plenty of zinc oxide inside of an airtight and sealed foil wrapper. The most cost effective way to use a unna boot is to purchase these and the other compnents separately right here. These bandages helped my leg wound start to heal after - believe it or not - two years. The unna boot two roll combo "packs" cheapest on amazon were about $11-12 up tp $50 for ONE. Each of these included one zinc oxide fabric, 4 inch x 10yds and one 4" by 5 yds self adherent stretch bandage. Thats all. You still need a standard 4.5 x 4 1/8 yrd 6 ply regular roll gauze and I also use an ABD pad over the wound area - note still under the adherent stretch @ 8x10" - to keep the bandage a little longer without seeping thru, which for me is 4-5 days not a week. I also use another single ply 4" cheap roll gauze to hold all of this stuff together before this - I started using Re-usable Spa Slender Body Wrap Elastic Bandages Latex Free (Pack of 6) over the all this WITHOUT using the stretch self adhering wrap - which BTW is comfy and saves a few dollars more. Amazon is great for all these items!! 5Dried out the same dayDon't think I will use this brand of Unna Boot in the future. The dressing pretty much dried out in the same day. I'm new to using Unna Boot wound dressings. Maybe I did something wrong. I'm thinking I may need to use a few layers of the Unna Boot dressing before applying the final layer of dry bandage. I will update this review after using multiple Unna Boot dressing layers. 2A great, healing productMy husband was hospitalized, and subsequently went to a wound care center, for leg ulcers related to diabetes and edema. The staff was great but after the first visit all they did was measure his progress and give us instructions for home. The instructions were pretty basic - clean the wounds, moisturize the skin, cover the wound with gauze and bacitracin and wrap the leg in an ace bandage. Honestly, other than the antibiotics in the hospital, this is exactly what we'd been doing. So, when he had a second occurrence I started researching online. We did get an antibiotic from his PCP but took control of the actual wound care ourselves. After seeing a number of videos and articles instructing on the Unna Boot we gave it a try first by using a zinc based diaper ointment (organic) and it was encouraging but the coverage was spotty and the process messy. I ordered this product and knew immediately why my home made one was so inadequate. The Dynarex Unna Boot Bandages are SATURATED with zinc oxide and quite wet. The bandage really does go on like a cast and can be smoothed to fit with no folds. I don't leave them on for more than 7 days (even though the videos on YouTube seem to indicate they're for a longer duration) and I do treat any open wounds with silver nitrate impregnated gauze pads and silver nitrate antibiotic cream. We have seen so much better results with the unna boot than we ever did just rewrapping with moisturizer, antibiotic cream and ace bandages. A really deep ulcer is filling in and the integrity of his skin is better than it has been in years. I wish I had done both legs because now we are going down a similar path with the other one but, thank goodness, I know what to do this time. 5Useful but messyI had a rash with swelling in my shin. These cut way down on the redness and swelling and made it much more comfortable. That being said, it's a huge mess. I wear medical exam gloves when I put them on, and I have to wear an old, huge sock over it or it gets absolutely everywhere. Also, I have to use a washcloth I don't care about to clean the paste off of my leg. It doesn't really come out in the wash. I'd still use them if needed, so you just have to weigh the pros and cons. 4Dynarex Unna Boots...high quality at a fraction of the price of othersUnfortunately I need these medicated wraps. Fortunately these are available, and meet my medical need at an affordable price since I have to pay for them out of pocket. There are many more alternatives, but these wraps do just as well at a fraction of the cost. 4... THEY USE IN MY WOUND CARE CLINIC IT IS AWESOME. It is wrapped in zinc which helps your ...DYNAREX Unna Boot Bandage with Zinc THIS ZINC UNNA BOOT IS THE SAME STUFF THEY USE IN MY WOUND CARE CLINIC IT IS AWESOME. It is wrapped in zinc which helps your wound get better and its great for your skin.I wrapped my wound on my leg .If wrapped right I can get around 2 full wraps out of the package 5ExcellentI must wear and change an Unna boot weekly for a condition on my foot. I found these at Amazon, printed the info and showed it to my wound doctor. He was amazed at the price and said I should order them (he is open to his patients when it comes to cost). (My insurance company pays the hospital for the Unna boot, cotton rolls and the outer wrapping but I must pay a co-pay. I bought 12 rolls of each of these 3 items for less than what my co-pay was to only APPLY the boot plus co-pay for the Unna boot, cotton and outer wrapping). This Unna boot has the same components as those used in the hospital. Right now I see the doctor once a month and take a roll of cotton, outer wrapping and the Unna boot with me and he applies it his office. I administer this myself weekly at home. My wounds are almost healed now. My information is honest and true. It is the same Unna boot components as the hospital uses but costs a lot less. (They charged my insurance company $221.00 just for the Unna boot = and I purchased 12 for how much?) And the hospitals aren't making money - yeah! right! This review will be the same for the cotton rolls and outer wrappings as far as $$$$ and product ratings are concerned. 5but as a medical assist for swelling and leg ulcers nothing ios better,Most people will not be familiar with this, but as a medical assist for swelling and leg ulcersnothing ios better, 5
