Get Professionally MeasuredI suggest going to a knowledgeable pharmacist to get sized for these socks. According to the box, I should order Large, but the pharmacist measured my legs and gave me Medium. The compression is for my legs, and the foot part of the sock is more than adequate for me. 5Value for the MoneyValue for the money. Comfortable to wear. 5Updated - found workaround for length issueI have purchased 5 pairs of these. The first 3 pairs were great - would have rated them 4 (or 5) stars. My most recent 2 purchases are essentially unwearable! The top of these socks should be BELOW the knee. However, my recently purchased socks are about 3 inches longer, coming to mid-knee. At first there was no problem. Recently I was wearing them while driving out of town. Within 20 minutes, my right lower leg started hurting. Removing my (thin) outer sock gave a little relief. When I was walking around, my legs were fine. When I continued driving, the pain soon returned.I consulted a medical professional (RN), who explained that the mid-knee stocking top was cutting off blood circulation to my lower leg, hence the pain.UPDATEBy now, I have purchased several more pairs of these. Other than the sizing issue (too long), they were (and are) a fine product. All of my more recent purchases have had this issue. What has worked in most cases: machine wash in warm water, then machine dry at LOW heat. Maybe need to repeat. For my most recently purchased product, this did not help enough. So I roll the tops down to the correct length each time, after I put them on. Fortunately, doing this does NOT make them overly tight at the top. 3Soft and comfortableThese are very soft like dress socks but not firm enough for me and they definitely lose their firmness over time. They are warm too so perfect for the winter and a little too warm for the summer. If you just need a little extra support and don't want them choking your circulation then I recommend these. But for me I need very strong support so I wear these mainly around the house only. Actually outside the house I use a special thigh sleeve instead.. 3Others may like them, but...Other folks may like these, but I found them uncomfortable. I have very dry skin, including on my feet. These socks just seem to snag on the dry spots on my feet and seem to make them feel even dryer. They also don't seem to compress my lymph-edema as well as my normal nylon stockings, meaning they don't control the swelling as well. 3Not very comfortable.Hardly ever used because they were not comfortable to put on or wear. 1WORK GREAT TO PREVENT SWELLINGI HAD A BAD FALL AND BOTH SPRAINED AN ANKLE AND FRACTURED A FIBULA. AS THE LEG HEALED I KEPT IT ELEVATED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO PUT WEIGHT ON THE LEG I BECAME MORE ACTIVE BUT DURING THE DAY THE LEG WOULD SWELL AND THE SWELLING WAS PAINFUL. WHILE SLEEPING THE SWELLING WENT DOWN, BUT AS I MOVED ABOUT EACH DAY THE LEG WOULD AGAIN SWELL AND BECOME PAINFUL. I PURCHASED THE ACTIVA COMPRESSION STOCKING AND BEGAN TO WEAR ONE ON THE AFFECTED LEG, BEGINNING FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. THE ACTIVA STOCKING KEPT MY LEG FROM SWELLING AND GREATLY REDUCED THE PAIN. ALSO IT PROVIDED A MEASURE OF SUPPORT FOR THE SPRAINED ANKLE. THEY MUST BE HAND WASHED, SO I BOUGHT A SECOND PAIR. THAT'S THE ONLY DRAWBACK TO THIS PRODUCT. I'VE BEEN WEARING THEM FOR MORE THAN A MONTH AND HAD NO PROBLEM WITH RUNS. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOUR DOCTOR SUGGESTS THEM. 5Five StarsVery comfortable... Will be buying more 5Hard to figure outI have been wearing this brand of stockings for about 5 years, and they're still going strong. They give comfortable support and, to my eye, look nice under pants. My only complaint is that none of the sellers seems to carry the whole line. I need to buy two different sizes and I want them to be the same. But because of the complicated way the styles are named, it's hard to put together a matching pair from two or three different sellers. Probably this wouldn't be a problem for most people who are only ordering one size, but it took me much too long to figure out my order. The stockings are fine, and other than my particular ordering problems, I'd recommend them. 3defective toesToes are too thin, wear out very fast 2
